Antranig Afsharian: Friend and Brother-In-Christ Not Forgotten

Ամէն անգամ ի՜նչ յիշատակներ կ’արթննան մտքիս մէջ երբ կը յիշեմ պատուական եղբայր մը, որուն ներսիդին նենգութիւն չկար:
Անիկա Անդրանիկ եղբայր Աֆշարեանն էր, Աստուած օժտած էր զինք քրիստոսավայել առաքինութիւններով: Թէեւ կ’ըսեն թէ անհատին կեանքը ելեւէջներէ կազմուած է, սակայն իր կեանքը տարբեր փոթորիկներու մէջ մնաց անշարժ եւ անսասան միշտ վստահած իր Փրկչին:
Կրթական կամ աստուածաբանական տիտղոսներ չունէր, բայց սիրով տոգորուած, ծառայութեան մղուած եւ աղօթքի տիտան եղբայր մըն էր միշտ բարին խորհող ու բարին կամեցող անզուգական անձնաւորութիւն մը, ընկերակից եղբայր մը:
Սրտանց կ’աղերսենք Աստուծոյ որ նմանօրինակ եղբայրներ պատրաստէ տարբեր եկեղեցիներու համար: •

Brother Antranig “Andy” Afsharian was a pillar — a gentle soul who loved Jesus and loved people. He possessed the gifts of encouragement and discernment — and he shared both with a tender smile. Brother Andy was a longtime co-laborer with Pastor Shanlian. Their ministry and friendship spanned decades. The two were closer than brothers and Pastor Shanlian often remarks how “there will never be another Andy” by his side. Brother Andy loved to lead hymns during worship services while his beloved wife, Sarah accompanied on the piano or organ. During retreats or picnics his harmonica was always on hand for renditions of Amazing Grace and Edelwiess.
Andy went home to glory in 2011, yet his legacy to those who knew him continues. Sarah Jane followed him a few short years later in 2014. May their memory be a source of encouragement to us until we are reunited with all God’s children and join once again in song.
